Am/Can Ch. Belami's Windsong

My husband surprised me with a puppy bitch for Christmas in 1977. She
was four months old. She came from Donna Cole in British Columbia. Her
sire was the great Am/Can/Bda Ch. Mephisto's Soldier of Fortune, Diamond.
He had had a phenomenal show career and was siring some really nice
youngsters. My bitch's name was to become Am/Can Ch. Belami's Windsong,
Sparkle for short. Sparkle she did. She was shown by our dear friend
Russell Hicks, an all breed handler who mostly showed hounds. Her first
time in the ring at the tender age of six months saw her go Reserve. At
nine months she was Best of Breed in Beaumont, Texas under J. Council
Parker. Russell was beside himself. She took a break in America to travel
to Canada with her sire's handler, Larry Ingalls. She was Best Puppy in
Group four times, Best Puppy in Show twice, Best of Breed over top
specials twice, and Group 3 and Group 4 against adult dogs. She came home
and picked up a few single points that summer. We let her grow up a bit
and brought her out again for the ABC in 1978 with Jane and Bob Forsythe.
She was 4th in the Open Brindle Class and picked up some single points in
New England while she was there. In the spring, she hit Texas and swept
the Houston Specialty and two all breed shows. She was Best of Breed over
top specials in Longview, Texas the following week. She finished the next
weekend in Dallas. It is ironic that she and Ch. Ell Bee's Just Watch Out
finished together that weekend. His bloodlines now flow with hers through
the veins of my Boxers.
