Welcome to KZ Boxers

Kaylee and Tazz

Thanks for stopping by KZ’s Boxers

It feels like yesterday, not twenty-five years ago that I let my son talk me into getting a “big dog”.  I had no idea then just how wonderful boxers really were and how important they would become in my life.

Our first boxer was a beautiful big fawn male that was my son’s constant companion. He was a hoot, a great kids dog and our gallant protector until we lost him to cancer at age twelve. He left a huge hole in our hearts and lives. Gen. WM Beau jangles (Beau) died in our back yard on a beautiful fall morning in 1989, with his head in my lap.

The next year the house became awfully quiet with both the kids then in college.. I still had a couple of older Boston’s, but it was just too quiet to be “our house”. I began the search for a new Boxer; not at all sure I was ready. At first only a fawn would do, but one Sunday afternoon my husband and I went to look at a litter of brindles owned by a lady who became a very dear friend, Ginger Kilman of Schautzie’s Boxers. It was love at first sight, he was a beautiful little fat bundle that waddled up to you as only a boxer puppy can, and promptly claimed our hearts. Schautzie’s Judge Buddymaps (Buddy) came into our lives in the summer of 1990. We were only lucky enough to have him for 4 ½ short years, he was just to special to stay. But during his life I formed a very special friendship with his breeder, who had been in boxers for years and showed her own dogs. It only took a few trips with her to dog shows and I was hooked.

When Buddy was three, I decided that I really wanted a show dog of my own, not that Buddy wasn’t beautiful, but he had an awful ear crop.  I was fortunate to discover Breho Boxers in Jonesboro, La.. I’m still, not quite sure how I ever got Brenda Stuckey to trust me to raise her beautiful little Kaylee, (Lonestar Breho Kaylee) but she did and we did and life as we knew it would never be the same. We were now a two boxer household….it seemed like a lot then. We lost Buddy before Kaylee was a year old. Several weeks after he died, the phone rang late one night and Brenda said your new son was born tonight. My first reaction was no, it was just too soon, but she said well, think about it, come look when you come to the Alexandria show. What could it hurt to just look….. it didn’t hurt a bit and Tazz became my first Champion… Ch Breho EZ Cau ‘Cha Lookin’. I regret that I never finished my sweet Kaylee, but when my husband was killed, she and I both just lost the heart for showing for awhile; by then it was our Tazz man’s turn in the show ring.
And he did loved to show, still does actually. He seems to thinks everyone is there just to see him and I tell him it’s true.

Tazz and Kaylee have produced three beautiful litters for a total of 16 puppies (we lost only one and had only one white). Of the fourteen puppies, we have three champions,  Ch KZ’s Breho Midnight Sun (Max) who is loved and owned by Gary & Beverly Cheatham, Ch KZ’s Breho Midnight Raider (Raider), exclusively owner handled to his championship by his owners Eric & Andréa Harris, and Ch. KZ’s Breho Cau’ Cha Heart (Honey) who was just too special to be allowed to ever leave home. Our “Nicki”, KZ’s Breho Look at Me, is currently off with her hero and handler Michael Shepherd, working on her championship. Will she ever get it? Well, it’s a dog show, what can I tell you.

We  currently have a litter, you can view them here.
