Here are some photos of the foster babies we shared our life with.  We fostered many dogs over the years.  Although rescue work was difficult at times and it was hard to let these guys go they all found good homes and there was always another waiting in the wings.

The foster dogs taught us a lot about the resiliency of the boxer breed.  These dogs were able to overcome their past loves and learn to love like any other boxer.  They were great companions.  They all have stories- some were left at the boarding clinic, some given up by tearful owners and some from local shelters.  They are a part of our extended family and we appreciate all that their new families have been able to provide them,

Two of our favorite fosters were deaf male dogs we fostered.  We had Kadin for 6 months and Astro for nearly 8 months.  Both boys learned sign language and were great dogs.  They play, bark and act silly like all other boxers.  The hardest part was learning we could not yell to get their attention.  If you would like information about training a deaf boxer of living with one feel free to email us.

 Astro came to rescue after being left at a shelter at the age of 8 weeks.  We suspect that the breeder did not tell the buyers or did not know he was deaf and then refused to take him back when it was discovered.  Astro lived with a foster family in Missouri for a few months and when he was 4 months old he came to Iowa.  He lived with us for about 8 months and even helped us move to our new home :-)  Astro is full of personality and sass.  He was Amayas best friend and learned signs quickly.  His new mom says he was a star in his obedience class.  Astro vists from time to time.....

Kadin came into rescue when a small boxer puppy mill decided to stop breeding and took all their dogs into the shelter.  Rescue ended up with about 8 adults, a litter of puppies and Kadin who was 5 months.  We suspect he could not be sold because he was deaf.  Kadin was the sweetest puppy we fostered and had an ideal temperment.  He stayed with us for about 6 months before finding a great home.
